Planning Applications viewed by all parish councillors and duly posted on parish council website and noticeboard with the following observations:-

1.  Erection of 1no. dwellinghouse /Former Methodist Chapel/Newtown Lane/Planning Ref 2021/0234/FUL.

Whilst the Parish Council feel it would be good to tidy the site they have to recommend Refusal on the following grounds:-

a.  Parking/Traffic movement is of great concern.  The proposed drawings show enough room theoretically to turn a car on the property but with it's close proximity to the junction of Newtown Lane onto the A361 there is great potential for collision with vehicles turning into Newtown Lane. It should also be noted vehicles should access the highway in forward gear.

b.  The proposed diminishes visibility onto the A361.

c.  Visitors to the property would most likely be travelling by car and that would add volume to the already congested junction as vehicles park on either side of Newtown Lane.

d.  Additional parking would cause additional pressure on localised parking and proximity of access to Newtown Lane and the A361 junction.

e.  There is only one door (escape route) proposed to this property at the front.  There would be no escape from the proposed courtyard on the ground floor and bedroom 3 on the first floor but on the drawing it states 'cart shed surveyed by others'.

f.  Should a Tree Preservation Order be put in place for the Oak Tree in situ?

g.  Any proposed building on the site of The Old Chapel should  be in sympathy with this historical building.

2,  Erection of portakabin and timber structure covered area to be used as roadside cafe (retrospective)/Land at 356544  139496 Stockbridge Lane to Steanbow/Planning Ref 2021/0026/FUL.

Following a report on 15.02.2021 that the Dog Waste Bin situated at the junction of Newtown Lane and Church Lane had been broken and the lower half removed new parts were duly ordered.

Following receipt of them Parish Councillor J. Tucker took receipt of them and has reinstated them.  At the same time a request was made to Mendip District Council for collection of Dog waste bags left on the ground at the site.  A Notice was then placed there requesting dog walkers take their dog-waste bags home with them.

Cost of replacement parts - £79.87, Glasdon UK Ltd.
