Minutes of the last meeting were approved and signed.

Matters arising:

Double Yellow lining in Newtown Lane has been completed.

It was noted vehicles have been parking on double yellow lines between Church lane and Newtown Lane.

Correspondence:

Email from Asst. Area Highway Manager re Page Lane, Bradley Way and Scottles Lane.

A safety inspection will be carried out and any safety defects identified in accordance with The Highway Safety Inspection Manual then actioned as necessary.

Any items which at that time do not meet the criteria for repair but would benefit from future action  will be put forward for consideration in future planned works programme.

The number of roads which would benefit from larger scale works in any given timeframe far outweighs the resources available in the same timescale.  Therefore the most deserving come first.

Emails from SCC and MDC re local government reorganisation in Somerset.  A single unitary authority will be in place in 2023.

J. Greenhalgh reported there will be a transition period.  Elections will take place in May 2022 for County Councillors and District Councillors will shadow.

Email with supporting photographs from a resident re reported overgrown hedging on the A361 impeding visibility at the Newtown junction and impeding Speed Limit signs on the A361.

(N.B. Vehicles registration plates were blocked out).

J. Tucker will arrange for vegetation at Newtown Lane junction to be cut back.

It was reported local farmers are hedge cutting along the A361 (traffic permitting).

Clerk will check mid week and end of the week.

N.B. Noticeboard updated regularly with all relevant information for the general public.

Finance:

One cheque drawn for £205.74.

Somerset Association of Local Councils Ltd - Affiliation Fee.

Bank Statement as per 15.07.2021 - £7,110.63.

Planning:

One Planning Application.

Erect a temporary glamping site of 14 yurts and 14 lotus belle tents, temporary shepherd's hut style trailer, marquee and catering tent during the summer months to be returned to agricultural use during the winter/Pennard Hill Farm/Stickleball Lane to Pennard Hill Farm/Planning Ref 2021/1118/FUL.

Proposed, seconded and passed Recommend Approval.

Highways Matters.

J. Tucker reported tyres have been dumped in Laurel Street - he will report this to MDC.

Clerk to report to SCC Highways vegetation growing over from the hedge and soil impeding the footpath from Page Lane to Edgarley, A361.

Overgrown footpath Mulberry to Inistor.

M. Heal will make enquiries so the footpath is cleared by the time school recommences in September.

Large potholes at the back of the village hall.

Clerk will make enquires with the village hall management committee.
