A Meeting was held on 29.06.17.

Present:  G. Willcox (Chairman), M. Colman, L. Aldridge, P. Gurl and D. Cllr J. Greenhalgh.

Apologies:  T. Hodgson, D. Creed, J. Gane, A. Creed  and J. Tucker.

Minutes of the last meeting were approved and signed.

Matters arising:  M. Colman confirmed there is a Defibrillator for Public Use at the School situated by the School gates.

Joint Chairperson of the Village Hall Management Committee L. Aldridge will discuss with the Village Hall Management Committee purchasing one for the Village Hall.

D. Cllr Greenhalgh gave an update re Mendip District Council:

Following recent Elections the new Chairman of MDC is Mr. E. Drew.

Two members of the Planning Team are leaving so this will have an effect on the processing of planning applications.

The Five - Councils Partnership will now evolve affecting Licencing (principally being managed in Oxford) though the Licencing Officer will be at Mendip District Council.

H.R. Transaction Services operate from Belfast and are responsible for training, Recruitment, Payroll etc.

After County Council Elections 8 District Councillors are now County Councillors.

Correspondence circulated:  Letter requesting All Farmers in the area not to burn plastics, to realise the health implications of doing so and the fact that it is illegal to burn any type of plastic.

Matters can be reported to the Environment Agency Incident hotline 0800 807060.

Notice of Road Closure (as noticeboard) Moggs Hole, West Pennard from July 25th for approximately 2 days.

Planning:

Planning decisions by Mendip District Council:

1.  Erection 2-bay timber garage/Bramble House/3, Mulberry Farm/Scottles lane:  Approved.

 2.  Create 1st floor extension over existing ground floor area, new porch/Bread Cottage/Newtown lane:  Approved.

Planning Applications:

1.  Erection of detached outbuilding in rear garden/Fossil Cottage.

The Parish Council felt there was inadequate information for the proposed in relation to properties and land around it.

One letter of objection received.

2.  Single storey side conservatory/The Gables/Southtown lane.

Proposed, seconded and passed recommend Approval.

Highways Matters to be reported:

Clerk has reported Dog-fouling in Laurel st.

Clerk to report to SCC Highways that Scottles lane is impassable and Hollow lane/Windmill lane through to Sticklynch has multiple potholes and is v dangerous.

Report of rubbish dumped in Breech lane to be reported to MDC.

Complaint of badly overgrown hedges in Scotts lane:  Chairman will approach the landowner.

Clerk to convey the parish council's Thanks to Tony and Ann Hodgson for tidying the War Memorial.
