Minutes of the last meeting were approved and signed.

Matters arising:-

Letter of thanks from D. Ewing for Parish Council donation of £500.00 to the Jubillee Fund.

It was reported there will be a Jubillee Garden and Bench  in the vicinity of Southtown Land and Breech Lane.  No further details.

It was further noted a Jubillee garden has been instigated close to a bench in the churchyard.

Correspondence:-

Letter re parishoner's request for Zebra Crossing situated at the Hall which would necessitate removal of the Hall Wall, building of a footpath and would instigate 24 hr flashing lights was unanimously vetoed by the parish council.  It was considered to be totally inappropriate environmentally with the result of the 24 hr lighting, the effect it would have on those living in close proximity, especially opposite the Hall and the structural impact to the Village Hall which would also not be permitted under their Constitution.

Reading-File circulated re Parish Councillor Training dates, MDC Health and Wellbeing, Somerset Waste Partnership featuring  a new customised Somerset Waste Partnership van which will be circulating to promote the repair and reuse of electric and electronic items etc, changes of refuse collection over the Jubillee celebrations over two weeks (ie Bank Holiday Thursday 2nd June to Saturday 4th June and Friday 3rd June's to Monday 6th June so pick-up's are a day later including Friday's on Saturday 11th June).  NB  Kerbside Collection days can be checked at somersetwaste.gov.uk. and are posted on the Village Noticeboard situated at the hall.

UPDATED Code of Conduct May 2022.  After discussion same has been been adopted by West Pennard Parish Council.

Finance:  Precept received, £7,000.00.

Insurance BHIB Councils Insurance - Annual Renewal, Cheque drawn £309.67.

 

Planning:- Demolition to existing single storey rear extension replaced with the erection of a new single storey rear extension and associated works/Hollycroft/Church Lane/Planning Ref 2022/0567/HSE - Proposed, seconded and passed Recommend Approval.

Highways Matters:-

Caravans in layby at site of old station - the matter has been reported several times.  It was felt matters might resolve during the Glastonbury Festival - to be reviewed.
